What Happened

President Trump has revealed he’s considering a federal takeover of Washington, D.C., citing concerns over crime and city management. 

Trump claimed that if the federal government ran the capital directly, crime would drop significantly, and operations would improve.

Trump also revealed the White House had already spoken with D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser about it. He said the idea is being seriously considered. 

No formal plan has yet been introduced, and Bowser’s office has not confirmed any such discussions. Trump also floated the possibility of applying a similar approach to other cities like New York.

His comments followed the fatal shooting of a Capitol Hill intern, which he pointed to as an example of ongoing public safety issues.
