What Happened?

A large-scale drone and missile attack on Kyiv this weekend killed at least two and wounded eighty, according to both Russian and Ukrainian spokesmen. According to Ukraine’s military, the Russian attack included 600 strike drones and 90 air, sea and ground-launched missiles. Ukrainian air defenses claimed to have destroyed or jammed 549 drones and 55 missiles.

The attack also included at least one Oreshnik ballistic missile, which can carry both conventional and nuclear payloads. Russia’s Defense Ministry on Sunday confirmed the Oreshnik’s use to target Ukrainian ‘military command and control facilities.’

Why it Matters

The use of the Oreshnik ballistic missile demonstrates how little time Ukraine would have to react if Russia ever decided to use nuclear weapons instead of conventional explosives. Because Russia and Ukraine share a border, the launch to impact time of ballistic missiles is measured in minutes, providing little warning and less reaction time for those on the receiving end.

By using a nuclear capable missile such as the Oreshnik, Russia likely intended to send the threat of a potential nuclear strike to Ukraine…

Apple just enabled Starlink satellite support to T-Mobile iPhones.

One of the biggest potential winners from global satellite coverage?

Just about everything Elon touches turns to gold:

  • SpaceX projected IPO at $1.75T

  • Tesla up by over 30,000% since IPO

  • And now - iPhone’s get satellite access

But while Wall Street focuses on Apple, Mode Mobile is quietly positioned to capitalize on this global satellite revolution.

Their EarnPhone technology already:

And that was before global satellite coverage.

With SpaceX eliminating "dead zones," Mode's earning technology can reach 3B+ unbanked people globally in rural populations worldwide.

Four years of constant war and aerial attacks have taken a toll on the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv. As one resident said following the latest Russian attack, ‘I am very sorry that I have to say goodbye to Kyiv now. My job is gone, everything is gone, everything has burned down.’

Since the war began hundreds of structures in Kyiv have been damaged or destroyed, and the city’s infrastructure has been significantly damaged as well. While the Ukrainian government continues to function, day to day life has become difficult for civilians who still live in their nation’s capital.

Russia claimed the attack on Kyiv was in retaliation for Ukrainian strikes on Russian facilities and civilian targets, though Moscow did not specify which ones they were referring to. Ukraine has launched a number of missile and drone attacks at targets inside Russia, but Ukraine claims the targets were all military. Russia makes the same claims about its attacks on Ukraine, that it is only attacking military targets. Yet both sides are experiencing a growing number of civilian casualties.

The war is not going well for Russia or Ukraine, though both sides are quick to downplay their own difficulties while exaggerating those of their enemy. Despite two war weary populations, neither side yet appears ready to make any serious concessions to the other, which means the underlying disputes that caused the war remain unresolved.

How it Affects You

Missiles and drones have become the weapons of choice for both sides in the war between Russia and Ukraine most likely because those weapons are relatively cheap and can inflict damage from a distance. Both sides are facing manpower shortages they hope to offset with drones, which indicates that even though they are running out of soldiers, neither side is ready to stop fighting.
