Putin Increases Ukrainian Land Demand as Part of Any Peace Deal
Russia's Putin has increased land demands to take control of four Ukrainian regions in any attempt to agree to a full ceasefire in Kyiv

What Happened?
Russian President, Vladimir Putin, is increasing land demands that insist on taking control of four regions in Ukraine.
According to reports, Putin has made these new demands of fully occupying these areas as part of any agreement to end the war in Kyiv.
U.S. special envoy, Steve Witkoff, visited Russia last week in an attempt to persuade Putin to agree to a ceasefire.
But Putin remained firm on his territory requests after the lengthy discussions to halt fighting along the current frontlines.
Russia has also reportedly rejected Ukraine's proposal to extend a unilateral three-day ceasefire.
Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, told reporters, Tuesday, that Moscow had seen President Volodymyr Zelensky’s offer but decided to decline as pressure increases for a long-term solution.
Why it Matters
These developments deal a blow to the Trump administration as frustrations continue to grow over a lack of progress.
Some believe further negotiation will require direct contact between Putin and President Donald Trump face-to-face for a meeting.
Putin announced a temporary ceasefire, Monday, after Trump said he believed Zelensky was prepared to forfeit his claim to the Crimean Peninsula.
Trump said the two sides are very close to a deal and should now meet, at very high levels, to finish the job on a longer-term truce deal.
The Kremlin informed the media that its unilateral three-day ceasefire would begin at midnight local time on May 8 and end at midnight on May 11.
It coincides with the 80th anniversary of 'Victory Day,' when Russia celebrates its victory over the Nazis.
Moscow added any actions in defiance of a ceasefire would be met with a response.
Ukrainian officials believe Russia should ceasefire immediately if peace is truly sought.
There is also concern about Russia waiting until May 8 to initiate these actions.
Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Minister, Andrii Sybiha, still states 'Ukraine is ready to support a lasting, durable, and full ceasefire.'
How it Affects You
The Trump administration has expressed its frustrations toward Russia and Ukraine.
President Trump warned the U.S. would soon walk away if no forward progress is made.
Peace efforts have become complicated following attacks by Russian military and recent comments from Ukraine over the occupation of Crimea.
But despite both sides having a strong dislike, hope remains in Kyiv for a peace deal to break through.
If Zelenskyy agrees to relinquish territory, it will mark a major shift in the battle.
It could be one of the last positions to make for future hopes of a full ceasefire.
