Political Activist Charlie Kirk Assassinated During College Campus Speech
Conservative political activist Charlie Kirk assassinated at Utah Valley State during a speech on campus.

What Happened?
Conservative political activist and prominent podcaster Charlie Kirk was struck by an assassin’s bullet and killed during a speech to a college campus in Utah. During a speech at Utah Valley State in Orem, Utah, Mr. Kirk was fatally shot in the neck by an as yet unknown killer. After being rushed to a local hospital, Mr. Kirk was pronounced dead at the age of thirty-one.
Police initially announced they had a suspect in custody, but that person was released after questioning. As of Thursday morning, the search continued for the shooter who remained at large.
Why it Matters
Kirk’s assassination follows the killing of two Democratic lawmakers in Minnesota earlier this year, both of which were likely politically motivated. Though Mr. Kirk’s killer has yet to be apprehended, given his prominence as a conservative activist, a political motivation is a strong possibility in his case.
According to publicly available information, the shot appeared to come from a rooftop about two hundred meters away from Mr. Kirk’s speech. A single fatal shot from that distance suggests the shooter had some training, though it doesn’t prove they are former military or law enforcement. The shooter also appeared to have an escape plan, and thus far, no eyewitnesses have been interviewed who saw him get into position to fire.
DoorDash’s $79B Explosion — But bigger?
When DoorDash first hit the scene, critics brushed it off as “nothing new.”
And here’s the kicker: they were right.
Yet the founders of this "delivery business” knew something that the rest of the world missed.
Today, DoorDash is worth $79 billion, with a valuation increase of 110,800% for early investors.
But there may be a second chance with a company that recently grew 32,481%.
No, it’s not a food delivery service…
It’s a company that rests at the intersection of three fast-growing global markets, driven by the same vision of turning personal assets into income streams.*

Mr. Kirk was a close political ally of President Trump, and his efforts to organize and energize young conservatives likely played a role in Mr. Trump’s victory in 2024. President Trump issued a statement saying Mr. Kirk’s killing was a ‘dark day for America.’
Dr. Robert Pape, director of the Chicago Project on Security and Threats, has published several works with data showing political violence is on the rise in the U.S. ‘We are becoming more and more of a powder keg,’ Dr. Pape told the Guardian during a recent interview. Dr. Pape also did extensive research on terrorism, and a key finding of his was that what distinguishes extremists from everyone else is their willingness to use violence to achieve political goals.
The assassination of liberal Democratic lawmakers in Minnesota and now conservative Charlie Kirk in Utah this year indicates that extremist violence is not exclusive to a single political persuasion or ideology. More Americans than ever in recent polls stated they believe the use of violence is justified to achieve their political objectives, and that included minorities of both Republicans and Democrats.
How it Affects You
The assassination of Charlie Kirk will likely inflame an already volatile political climate in the United States. Though there aren’t any national elections this year, gatherings and events of a political nature are still plentiful, and each of those will likely see heavier security going forward.
