Jeff Bezos to Lead New AI Startup Called Project Prometheus

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos to become co-CEO of Project Prometheus, an AI startup company.

What Happened?

Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon and one of the richest people in the world, announced he will be the co-CEO of a new AI startup called Project Prometheus. The new project will begin with over six billion dollars in funding, including some of Mr. Bezos’ own money, which will make the new project one of the most well-funded projects anywhere.

The new effort will be the first directly led by Mr. Bezos since 2021, and the focus of the project will reportedly be on engineering and manufacturing.

Why it Matters

Research and investment in AI have dramatically increased in the past three years, with tech companies pouring hundreds of billions of dollars into building AI infrastructure, such as data centers, around the world. Despite the substantial startup investment for Project Prometheus, it will likely be playing catch-up due to the enormous amount of resources already being devoted to new AI projects by Google, OpenAI, Microsoft, and other heavyweight tech companies.

Missed Nvidia? Missed OpenAI? This is your chance to get in early, and well before the crowd. RAD Intel is redefining how brands use AI to target customers—with technology so sharp, it's already trusted by Fortune 1000 brands with recurring seven-figure partnerships in place.*

Their secret? AI that finds the exact audience and message that converts. That’s why Adobe and Meta insiders are already in. The company has reserved its Nasdaq ticker and shares are available now for just $0.81.

When RAD Intel goes public or gets acquired, it won’t be available at this price again. Time’s ticking -- the share price changes soon.

According to the New York Times, Mr. Bezos’ co-founder and co-chief executive is Vik Bajaj, a physicist and chemist who worked closely with Google’s co-founder Sergey Brin at Google’s X, a research effort often called ‘The Moonshot Factory.’ Specifics about Project Prometheus are not yet publicly available, but the focus on engineering and manufacturing suggests that this effort will be focused on applications, not research and development.

Finding new ways to apply AI capabilities to practical commercial activities has heated up just in the past year, with a wide range of companies launching new AI-related ventures. For example, Walmart recently announced a deal with Open Source AI that will allow users to shop directly from ChatGPT, which could continue the shift in online retail shopping away from Google and other traditional web browsers.

In the field of manufacturing, AI is being used for efficiency improvements such as predictive maintenance, which allows potential problems to be identified early, where they can be solved for less time and money. Predictive maintenance is similar to early detection and treatment in health care, because many different types of ailments can be treated more effectively and for less cost, the earlier that treatment begins.

Project Prometheus reportedly hired close to one hundred people in 2025, and most of those have resumes that include stints at big tech companies like Google and Meta. With a combination of funding and expertise, the new project has the potential to become a significant player in the field of applied AI.

How it Affects You

Tech companies and prominent investors, including Jeff Bezos, are betting big that AI will not only usher in a new era of technology, but that it will transform our economy in far-reaching and lasting ways. If they are wrong and AI turns out to be a bubble, it will be potentially the largest bubble ever.
