Israel Begins Major Assault on Gaza City

Israel launches new ground offensive against Gaza City, which it claims is the last stronghold of Hamas.

What Happened?

The Israeli military has begun a major ground assault into Gaza City this week. In a press release the Israeli Defense Force said, ‘We are not waiting. We have begun the preliminary operations and initial stages of the attack on Gaza City, and we are currently operating with great intensity on the outskirts of the city.’

Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz said Israel would ‘open the gates of hell’ on Gaza City if Hamas did not agree to Israel’s terms to end the war and release all remaining hostages. To support the new operation Israel called up at least 60,000 reservists to duty.

Why it Matters

Gaza City is the last major section of the Gaza Strip where Hamas forces likely remain. Israel’s military has been clear about the objective of the new ground assault, saying, ‘We will deepen our strikes and will not hesitate until we return all the abductees and Hamas is dismantled militarily and governmentally.’ Hamas has said it still refuses to disarm or release the remaining Israeli hostages.

While Wall Street was distracted, one startup quietly built a platform with 50M+ users and landed the #1 spot on Deloitte’s list of the Fastest-Growing Software Companies.

That company is Mode Mobile – and their stock is already up 2,900% for early investors.*

By completely rethinking the $500B smartphone industry, their users have earned and saved over $325M from simply using their phones. It’s a model that’s generated $75M in revenue, and powered a jaw-dropping 32,481% growth in just 3 years.

Mode has retail deals with Walmart and Best Buy, a reserved Nasdaq ticker ($MODE), and is still offering pre-IPO shares to the public… for now.

But the last two rounds sold out fast, and space in this one is limited.

For Palestinians, the news means they will likely be pushed into even smaller portions of the Gaza Strip, which will increase crowding and worsen living conditions. Some Palestinians have openly been contemplating whether or not they should leave Gaza permanently. While U.N. backed claims of famine in Gaza have been disputed by Israel, it is probable that living conditions for most Palestinians are dire. The new assault will likely make those conditions even worse.

The Trump Administration continues to back Israel even as many European nations have increased their criticism of Israel, with Britain’s Prime Minister even saying, ‘The UK is no longer an ally of Israel.’ France and Great Britian have said they plan to recognize a Palestinian state during the U.N General Assembly in September. But the new Israeli assault on Gaza City raises the question of whether or not there will be anything left in Gaza to recognize.

Hamas started the Gaza War with a vicious attack on Israel in October 2023, and since then Hamas leaders have refused calls from prominent Arab leaders to disarm and surrender political power. Hamas is an extremist organization addicted to death, which is why they have stood by and refused to surrender power even at the expense of Gaza and the Palestinians.

Israel has been accused of committing war crimes and intentionally starving Palestinians, though it is clear Hamas bears much responsibility for the plight of the Palestinians.

How it Affects You

The new ground attack on Gaza City will likely either crush the remnants of Hamas, turn Israel into a pariah state internationally, or possibly both. Israel has not indicated how long the new operation in Gaza will last, but it seems likely it will persist for weeks if not longer.

*Mode Mobile recently received their ticker reservation with Nasdaq ($MODE), indicating an intent to IPO in the next 24 months. An intent to IPO is no guarantee that an actual IPO will occur.

The Deloitte rankings are based on submitted applications and public company database research, with winners selected based on their fiscal-year revenue growth percentage over a three-year period.
