Israel and Lebanon Agree to Ten-Day Ceasefire

Israel and Lebanon agree to ten day ceasefire after rare direct talks between the two neighbors.

What Happened?

Following a rare direct meeting between Lebanese and Israeli officials, the two countries agreed on a ten-day ceasefire to halt the fighting in southern Lebanon. Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun characterized the ceasefire as an important prelude to achieving a permanent peace. Hezbollah said they would honor the ceasefire if Israeli forces stopped their military campaign against the Iranian-backed militant group.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel ‘understands Lebanon’s position.’ The agreement will take effect immediately and comes as the current ceasefire between Iran and the United States is nearing completion.

Why it Matters

Israel’s invasion of southern Lebanon is the most significant ground combat to take place since the U.S. and Israel began attacking Iran on the twenty-eighth of February. Hezbollah, which is an Iranian-backed militant group operating in Lebanon, joined Iran in retaliating against Israel after the war began in February. Last week, Israel and Lebanon held direct talks for the first time in over thirty years, and the ten-day ceasefire indicates that meeting was productive…

Just about everything Elon touches turns to gold:

  • SpaceX projected IPO at $1.75T

  • Tesla up by over 30,000% since IPO

  • And now - iPhone’s get satellite access

But while Wall Street focuses on Apple, Mode Mobile is quietly positioned to capitalize on this global satellite revolution.

Their EarnPhone technology already:

  • Reaches 490M+ users worldwide

  • Helped those users save and earn over $1 billion

  • Grew revenue 32,481%

And that was before global satellite coverage.

With SpaceX eliminating "dead zones," Mode's earning technology can reach 3B+ unbanked people globally in rural populations worldwide.

We’re talking about emerging markets with no infrastructure.

Right now, you can still invest at $0.50/share.

Over 59,000 shareholders have already claimed their shares and they’ve just secured the $MODE ticker from Nasdaq. The time to invest is now, before any potential IPO.*

In some parts of Lebanon, particularly the southern portion near Israel, Hezbollah operates as a de facto government, controlling Lebanese territory as if it were their own. Because Hezbollah is armed and supplied by Iran, the group has enough firepower and manpower to give Lebanon’s own lackluster military pause. In Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, the fear is if Lebanon’s Army attacked Hezbollah, they could well be defeated, which would give Hezbollah control of the entire country, not just the south.

For Israel, Hezbollah represents a major security threat because the group has stockpiled and launched hundreds of missiles at Israeli towns and cities. Hezbollah also indoctrinates thousands in schools it runs or pays for with an extremist version of Islam while constantly calling for the destruction of Israel. The group has been designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S. government.

When the U.S. and Israel launched their attack on Iran and killed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Israeli officials saw a chance to strike Hezbollah while Iran was too busy defending itself to resupply Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon. Lebanon saw the situation similarly and took the unprecedented step of calling for Hezbollah to lay down its arms. However, Hezbollah refused to disarm, and Israel launched a major military campaign in southern Lebanon to try to destroy the group or at least push it far enough away from Israel to prevent future missile attacks.

How it Affects You

Despite the Israeli invasion and pressure from Lebanon, in addition to the losses inflicted on Iran, Hezbollah has defiantly clung to power in southern Lebanon. Any peace deal between Israel and Lebanon that does not include the disbanding or disarming of Hezbollah will be temporary because such agreements in the past only lasted until Hezbollah recouped its losses. Once Hezbollah recovers, it always begins a new round of attacks against Israel.
