Iran Warns of 'Irreparable Damage' as Trump Weighs Striking Iranian Nuclear Facilities

Iran's supreme leader issued a strong warning toward President Trump on Wednesday after he said it's 'up in the air' whether the U.S. may strike Iranian nuclear facilities.

What Happened?

Iran’s supreme leader issued a strong warning on Wednesday after President Donald Trump floated the possibility the U.S. could strike Iranian nuclear facilities.

Following a series of recent airstrikes from Israeli forces, Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that Iran would equally resist an ‘imposed war’ and ‘imposed peace.’

Khamenei praised the Iranian people for their response to the latest round of Israeli attacks and said that 'Americans should know that the Iranian nation cannot be surrendered.'

'Any U.S. military intervention will undoubtedly be accompanied by irreparable damage,' Iran's leader stated during a nationally broadcast address. 'The U.S. entering in this matter [war] is 100% to its own detriment. The damage it will suffer will be far greater than any harm that Iran may encounter.'

Khamenei added to the suspicion that the U.S. was involved in the initial plan that set off a string of attacks by the Israeli military.

'Considering their recent remarks, this suspicion is growing stronger day by day,' he said.

That suspicion President Trump later confirmed to have had prior knowledge of Israel's attacks ahead of time, according to Reuters.

Trump told White House reporters following Khamenei's publicized address it's up in the air whether he will sign off on military strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities.

'I may do it, I may not do it, nobody knows what I'm going to do,' Trump stated. 'I can tell you this; Iran’s got a lot of trouble.'

He adds that the coming days or the 'next week is going to be very big' surrounding what happens next involving Iran.

Why it Matters

The strong rhetoric from Trump comes as negotiations have previously failed at accomplishing a U.S.-Iran nuclear deal involving both sides.

Trump shared previous threats on Tuesday, claiming that officials know exactly where Khamenei is hiding.

'He is an easy target but is safe there - we are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now,' he said.

Israeli forces claimed on Tuesday to have reportedly killed a top Iranian general as it traded recent strikes in recent days.

As Trump's patience for a nuclear deal runs thin, he has now pushed Iran to commit to an unconditional surrender.

He's doubled down on prior statements that Iran could not obtain a nuclear weapon.

On Wednesday, Trump told reporters he's now offering Iran the 'ultimate ultimatum.'

This could include the strong possibility the U.S. would support Israel's plan that involved the assassination of Iran's leader, which Trump previously vetoed.

How it Affects You

It's an outcome that President Xi Jinping of China has condemned surrounding Israel's recent actions.

President Xi and other leaders may soon step in before it reaches the point of no return.

The focus of ending Tehran's unsupervised nuclear powers could come at a steep global price of an ‘all-out war,’ Iran has stated.

This situation could significantly impact future decision-making involving trade negotiations between the U.S. and countries like China.

As the U.S. has 'complete and total control of the skies over Iran,' the clock is ticking for Tehran's 'second chance' to conduct a successful nuclear deal.

Iran's next move if met with rejection or an attack toward U.S. personnel will mark a major setback in Iran's quest to form strong diplomatic relations.
