Iran Launches Missiles on U.S. Military Base in Qatar, Threatens to Activate 'Sleeper Cells'

Iran fired multiple missiles on the largest U.S. military base in the Middle East, further escalating conflict that officials warn brings the world to a 'very dangerous line.'

What Happened?

Officials announced on Monday that Iran had fired multiple missiles on U.S. military installations in Qatar and Iraq.

White House top leaders reportedly met in the Situation Room Monday after the Defense Department was monitoring potential attacks on the largest U.S. military base in the Middle East.

According to the Iranian state television network IRIB, operation Besharat al-Fath was launched against the U.S. toward the Al-Udeid Air Base.

Iran carried out the planned attack in retaliation to strikes on its three nuclear sites over the weekend by the U.S.

The attack comes not long after Iran reportedly warned President Donald Trump that it might activate terrorist 'sleeper cells' inside the U.S. if it were attacked.

Qatar’s defense ministry told officials that its air defenses 'successfully' intercepted the missile attack that targeted the Al-Udeid Air Base.

The attack did not result in any deaths or injuries, according to reports.

Iran said its missile attack reportedly matched the number of bombs dropped by the U.S. on Iranian nuclear sites Saturday.

The Israeli military also fired strikes on Monday at six airports across Iran, destroying 15 aircraft and helicopters.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday reiterated his desire to help the Iranian people.

Although Putin did not detail how he would help Iran, he called the U.S. actions 'unjustified' and now pushes the world towards great danger, according to reports.

During a meeting with advanced military recruits, Putin reportedly noted the escalating Israel and Iran conflict.

'Extra-regional powers are also being drawn into the conflict. All this brings the world to a very dangerous line,' he said.

Why it Matters

President Trump took to Truth Social Saturday following the U.S. attacks on three nuclear sites in Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan.

The military reportedly used 'bunker buster' bombs and missiles to target the heavily fortified facilities that Trump called 'spectacularly successful' strikes.

He applauded the U.S. military and said, 'NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE!'

Shortly after, Trump added, 'ANY RETALIATION BY IRAN AGAINST THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA WILL BE MET WITH FORCE FAR GREATER THAN WHAT WAS WITNESSED TONIGHT.'

Trump followed through on previous remarks that suggested things were going to be 'very big' surrounding what happened next involving Iran.

Putin and China's President Xi Jinping expressed a strong desire to mediate things from reaching a point of an ‘all-out war.'

Israel's plan to target Iran's supreme leader Khamenei was previously vetoed by President Trump.

Khamenei issued a strong warning last week that 'any U.S. military intervention will undoubtedly be accompanied by irreparable damage.'

While a nuclear deal appears extremely unlikely, the true state of Iran's future with the U.S. now hangs in the balance following its latest action.

Israel has also threatened to hold Khamenei accountable for Iran's latest attacks in the Israeli region.

How it Affects You

Trump's inability to push Iran to commit to an unconditional surrender has led to the 'ultimate ultimatum' with escalated conflict in the region.

The U.S. has reportedly called on China to prevent Iran from closing the Strait of Hormuz.

If closed, the disruption would have profound economic consequences for one of the world's most important shipping routes for oil supply.

Around 20% of the world's oil reportedly passes through the shipping route.

Iran’s parliament has voted to close it, pending a final decision from Khamenei.

Not only is the U.S. on high alert over increased oil prices, but the threats of a physical or cyber-attack on U.S. soil have major cities issuing heightened warnings.
