Gunman Kills Three and Wounds Seventeen in Minneapolis
Gunman kills three and wounds twenty in attack on Catholic school children in Minneapolis.
What Happened?
A single gunman opened fire on a Catholic school in Minneapolis, killing three and wounding seventeen according to local law enforcement authorities. Minneapolis police said the gunman was also dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. At least two of the fatalities were children and many of those wounded were ages six to eight years old.
The shooter did not have an extensive criminal record according to Minneapolis police. ‘This was a deliberate act of violence against innocent children and other people worshiping. The sheer cruelty and cowardice of firing into a church full of children is absolutely incomprehensible,’ Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara told reporters.
Why it Matters
Minneapolis has seen a rise in violent crime since the pandemic. School shootings unfortunately continue to be a problem nationwide. According to information provided by Reuters, there have been at least one hundred and forty school shootings in the United States so far in 2025. This shooting took place near Annunciation Catholic School, which is a private school in the southeastern portion of Minneapolis.
Did Apple just start the next mobile boom?
Apple is working to make using your phone easier than ever with a new Siri that can control apps for you with a single voice command.
Every time Apple upgrades how we interact with our devices, mobile engagement skyrockets.
And companies monetizing that attention see their numbers explode.
Mode Mobile is one of those companies, but they’ve taken it further.*
Instead of Big Tech mining your attention for free, Mode pays you for it.
The result?
● 32,481% revenue growth.
● 50M+ users.
● $75M+ revenue.
● 2 sold out raises
All before going public.
And right now, shares are still available to the public at pre-IPO pricing (along with 20% bonus).
Apple will spark the boom.
But Mode could be one of the fastest risers in it.
Police have not yet released the name of the shooter or provided any information to the public about possible motives. Several associated press reports indicated police were reviewing video footage which may have been posted online by the gunman, but that has not been confirmed. Police did say the gunman attacked the church with at least three different types of firearms, including a pistol and one long gun.
Like most mass shootings, all the victims were shot within the first few minutes of the attack. On average, most mass shootings are over in less than five minutes according to data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Because the window of time is so brief, it is often difficult for law enforcement authorities or even bystanders to stop attacks like this one. In civilian life as in the military, the element of surprise is a powerful weapon.
The Department of Homeland Security and the FBI were monitoring the situation, but so far there are no indications any federal agencies are undertaking any specific investigations on their own. Typically, shootings like these are investigated by local law enforcement agencies because they have jurisdiction.
The return of the school year for the fall of 2025 has also seen a number of hoaxes on college campuses claiming active shooters were on the loose, and the FBI is investigating those incidents.
How it Affects You
Because there is no way to predict where or when an active shooter might strike next, it can be very difficult to stop them even when strong security measures are in place.
Most security measures create physical and psychological barriers to deter potential perpetrators. For practical reasons physical barriers can’t be everywhere all the time, and for shooters who are willing to die, psychological barriers are often ineffective.
