What Happened?
Thousands of text messages recovered from Anthony Fauci’s government-issued cellphone are beginning to emerge as Senators Ron Johnson, R-Wis. and Rand Paul, R-Ky. review the device as part of their ongoing oversight investigation. The first batch released includes a January 2021 conversation between Fauci, Rochelle Walensky (who at the time was Director at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), and Vivek Murthy (who was Surgeon General) about COVID-19 vaccination during pregnancy.
In one message, Fauci wrote that the immune response and fever some people experience after a second vaccine dose ‘theoretically could be associated with miscarriage in the 1st trimester,’ while describing it as a theoretical possibility rather than established evidence. The discussion also acknowledged that pregnant women had not participated in the original vaccine trials and addressed how officials should respond to guidance from the World Health Organization.
These private conversations stand in stark contrast to later public statements from Fauci and other health officials, who continued encouraging COVID-19 vaccination during pregnancy while saying available data had not identified safety concerns. Johnson said the release marks only the beginning of his investigation into the contents of Fauci’s government-issued phone.
Why It Matters
Fauci’s texts offer a rare look at what senior health officials were discussing privately while the federal government was shaping public guidance during one of the most uncertain periods of the pandemic. While Fauci's message did not establish that the vaccine caused miscarriages, it did show that health officials were weighing a theoretical risk at a time when pregnancy-specific clinical trial data remained severely limited…
Palantir grew 1,540% This company did 32,481%
Anyone who invested in Palantir at its IPO in 2020 could be sitting on nearly 1,540% gains right now.
But that great return is already in the past, and the stock is now one of the S&P 500’s most expensive.
And while Palantir was climbing on the back of your public information, another company was redefining big data.
Mode Mobile has already delivered 32,481% revenue growth before even going public.
Mode has:
490M+ users
$1B+ paid to users
$115M+ in real revenue
Nasdaq ticker secured for potential IPO
Pre-IPO shares available for a limited time
Mode’s model pays users for their screen time and turns Big Tech’s free data mining play into a cash-generating engine for everyone.
Palantir now trades at ~85× forward earnings, which means Wall Street has already priced in massive expectations.
But Mode?
Still private.
That means the market hasn’t had its say yet.
Right now, investors can get Mode Mobile shares at early-stage pricing.
When the Nasdaq ticker potentially goes live, that window could close fast.
60,000+ shareholders have already invested over $100M in Mode, and pre-IPO shares are still available at $0.52/share.
But the opportunity to get in on that price closes on August 14.
Palantir’s moment has passed.
Mode’s may just be starting.*
It’s an important distinction since public confidence was heavily dependent on officials explaining the uncertainty in such a way that made it seem like there were clearly established findings. Fauci later said there were 'no red flags' involving pregnant women, while federal health authorities eventually issued stronger recommendations encouraging vaccination during pregnancy.
The messages are unraveling new layers about how health officials handled the uncertainty behind closed doors and how much of that uncertainty trickled down to the public. With more than 34,000 texts and hundreds of voicemails reportedly recovered from Fauci’s government phone, lawmakers are beginning to gain a much better picture of how pandemic guidance took shape and how Americans were influenced, compared with what health officials really thought privately.
How It Affects You
If lawmakers conclude that important internal discussions were not adequately reflected in public guidance, agencies will face intense public blowback. There is likely to be a bigger push for the release of supporting data, internal deliberations, and any scientific disagreements between officials much earlier. The investigation is also likely to encourage Congress to expand oversight of agencies such as the NIH and CDC, leading to more hearings, document requests, and transparency requirements.
While the COVID-19 pandemic has come to pass, there may be far greater transparency moving forward regarding how future guidance is issued on vaccines, emerging diseases, prescription drugs, food safety, and other public health decisions that millions of Americans rely on.
