What Happened?

The U.S. Department of Transportation announced nearly $870 million in federal funding to modernize airports across the country, awarding grants for 339 infrastructure projects in 44 states and two U.S. territories. The money will be distributed through the Federal Aviation Administration's Airport Infrastructure Grants program, which was created under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to improve the nation's aviation system.

The projects range from major terminal and roadway improvements to runway rehabilitation, taxiway upgrades, passenger boarding bridges, baggage systems, and snow removal equipment. Los Angeles International Airport received the largest award, with nearly $289 million for a new terminal access road. Miami International Airport secured $50 million to reconstruct part of its terminal roof.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said the investments are intended to strengthen airport safety, reduce congestion, and improve the travel experience for passengers. Federal officials said the funding will help airports address aging infrastructure while supporting projects that improve operational efficiency and prepare facilities to handle future growth in air travel.

Why It Matters

The investment comes as the nation's aviation system faces mounting pressure from record travel demand and aging infrastructure. Over the past year, travelers have dealt with flight delays, technology outages, air traffic control disruptions, and overcrowded terminals that exposed weaknesses extending well beyond the airlines themselves…

Apple’s price hike just made this opportunity more interesting

Apple just made smartphones even more expensive, raising the price on most of their products by $200 or more.

Consumers are paying more than ever for technology that gives them nothing back.

More expensive devices. Higher upgrade costs. Still no way for users to share in the value their phones create.

Mode Mobile is building the opposite model.

Instead of a smartphone that only costs money, Mode gives users the opportunity to earn from the devices they already own.

Just like Uber turned cars into taxis, and Airbnb turned homes into hotels.

And the results speak for themselves:

  • 490M+ users reached

  • $1B+ earned and saved by EarnOS users

  • $115M+ cumulative revenue

  • 32,481% 3-year revenue growth, Deloitte’s #1 fastest-growing software company in North America in 2023.

  • $MODE Nasdaq ticker secured

As premium devices get pricier, Mode’s timing looks even more compelling.

Consumers need technology that gives value back.

Advertisers and AI companies need permissioned first-party data.

Pre-IPO shares are still available at $0.52, with up to 20% bonus shares for a limited time.*

To combat this, federal officials are launching this multibillion-dollar effort to modernize the country's aging air traffic control network after a series of high-profile system failures.

New runways, taxiways, terminals, and baggage systems can improve how efficiently aircraft and passengers move through an airport, reducing bottlenecks that often ripple across the national air travel network. While infrastructure projects will not solve every delay, they can absolutely give airports more efficiency and flexibility as passenger traffic continues to swell.

How It Affects You

If you fly even a few times a year, these projects could gradually make the experience less frustrating. Many of the grants will pay for improvements that passengers notice quickly, such as easier terminal access and more reliable baggage systems. Over time, as longer projects are completed, such as better runways, travelers will ideally experience fewer bottlenecks that often leave planes waiting to take off or reach the gate after landing.

While the biggest improvements are unlikely to happen at the airport closest to you, air travel works as one connected system, so delays at major hubs often spread across the country. When airports can move planes and passengers more efficiently, connecting flights are less likely to be disrupted, and schedules become easier for airlines to maintain.

With such a massive investment in new infrastructure, it's undoubtedly going to strengthen local economies, as construction projects create jobs in the near term while modern airports help cities compete for new businesses and tourism.

Companies are more likely to expand where employees and customers can travel efficiently, and better cargo facilities can speed deliveries for local manufacturers and retailers. While these projects will take years to finish, the end goal is to build airports that can handle growing demand without allowing today's delays and congestion to become tomorrow's normal.
