AI Use Increases for Chat GPT, Google Gemini, and Microsoft Copilot

AI use online continues to increase for Google Gemini, Chat GPT, and Microsoft Copilot.

What Happened?

According to a recent report from analytics provider Comscore, the use of AI has increased significantly in the past three months. The report found that Microsoft’s Copilot usage online grew by one-hundred-and-seventy-five percent, while Google’s Gemini grew by sixty-eight percent, followed by an eighteen percent increase in the number of users for Chat GPT.

While Copilot grew the most in the past three months, the report also found that Chat GPT still remained the most popular AI for internet users, amassing thirty-six million users from March to June of 2025.

Why it Matters

The Comscore report looked at a total of one hundred and seventeen AI programs in use on personal computers (PC) and mobile devices. Overall, the data indicated a continued increase in the use of all kinds of AI by both mobile and PC users.

Why did Copilot grow more quickly than Gemini or Chat CPT? According to Smriti Sharma of Comscore, ‘Copilot’s mobile growth comes mainly from Microsoft’s ecosystem integration and productivity use cases.’ He also pointed out that because Chat GPT and Gemini have been around longer, their growth curves have steadied, while Copilot is still in the early stages of building a solid user base.

The Freedom Dividend Might Cost You Big

They’re calling it ‘the Freedom Dividend.’

Free checks, no strings – paid out to people just doing what they already do on their phones: play games, use apps, and listen to music.

Tech titans like Elon Musk, Sam Altman, and Mark Zuckerberg are all pushing for Universal Basic Income because they know jobs are disappearing due to AI.

But here’s what everyone glosses over: Someone has to pay for it.

And if you’re accredited, wealthy, or asset-heavy… that “somebody” is probably you.

Unless…

You put yourself on the other side of the UBI equation.

And investors still have a window to get in before this becomes the template for post-AI income redistribution.

The continued growth of AI use online can have a number of significant consequences for the economy and society in general. For businesses, being visible to AI programs has become an essential way to reach potential customers or clients. Because AI programs look for trust signals online such as positive reviews and good website quality, businesses without those things will be less visible to the AI search tools and by extension to potential customers using them.

For society, the continued switch from traditional search engines to AI programs represents the most significant change in online behavior since the first search engines came into being. The range of potential applications is wide, from students using AI to complete homework assignments to professionals using AI to do their actual work. Because AI can generate so much content so quickly, there is a danger that AI-generated content online may someday outnumber human made content.

There are also serious questions about the reliability of AI-generated images and text. Sometimes AI gets things wrong, and AI can create altered images and videos that look like the real thing but aren’t. Society will have to grapple with increased AI use in the coming years.

How it Affects You

Advocates of AI cast it as a breakthrough achievement in technology while critics warn that widespread AI use could be disastrous for our society and economy. There is no question AI is already a disruptive technology, and as the number of users continues to grow, the level of economic and social disruption caused by AI will likely increase too.
